Map 3D in one minute - Define object data
Define object data can be used for connecting to external datebase or making a query. Once the entities (e.g. line, polygon, point) have associated with an appropriate attribute, each entities have their attributes (e.g. unique ID). Those OD attributes can be made help of doing query. For example, I need to know how many tree in this area are larger than 5m girths? Also those object can be exported to another native GIS data formats (e.g. SHP, E00, DGN, MIF..). For example, those OD attributes will associate with the table if those entities are convert to SHP.
Now I'm going to create an object table. Go to pull-down menu Map -> Object Data -> Define object data
1 - Define object data dialog windows -> click New Table button
2 - Define new object data table dialog windows -> input Table Name (e.g. Zone) -> input Field Name (e.g. ID) -> choose Type (e.g. Integer, Character, Point, Real) -> click Add -> click OK
3 - Go to pull-down menu Map -> Database -> Generate links
4 - Generate data links dialog windows -> click Enclose text of Linkage Type -> click Create object data records of data links -> select the table which just created (e.g. Zone) -> click OK
5 - Click Select -> select all entities -> click Enter
Now all closed polyline associates with attribute, and it is able to do query or link to external database.
Have a nice day.

Display Object data in table or spreadsheet
Can the object data (in point) be displayed in table or spreadsheet? I would like to view the object data from the drawing.
Display object data
No! Object data can’t be displayed in table or spreadsheet. But you can export all object data to feature data (e.g. SHP, SDF), and export to table or spreadsheet.
Display Object Data in Autocad Map 2009
I tried to display object data associated with the elements in Autocad Map 2009 imported from shape file. I tried using Topology query, after creating node topology of those imported points. But though the query is successfully executed, text is not displayed. Please advice.

Hi Anonymous,
I would like to confirm "text", does it means annotation? Which kinds of Topology query are you using? Could you talk more about your application? :)
Generally the Topology is used for doing spatial analysis.

Display Object Data Value in Autocad Map 2009
Hi Eric,
Thanks for your response, BTW "Text", I mean to say the associated Object data field value. Does that make sense? Else, please respond.
Thanks

Hi Debs,
OK! Did you check the "Permanent" radio button of Topology Type of Topology Query dialog box? & "Draw" Query Mode of Define Query of Topology dialog box?
Please note that if you select the preview mode, all queried object don't actually pull the objects into the current drawing.
Thanks,
Eric
Thanks Eric, Yes, I have
Thanks Eric,
Yes, I have already checked those radio buttons ("Permanent" radio button of Topology Type of Topology Query dialog box & "Draw" Query Mode of Define Query of Topology dialog box?), but of no help. Please suggest.

Display the Object Data by Map 3D
Hi,
regarding your quest, you can use the annotation to label the future of CAD object.
in Map 3D 2005, you can find the fuction called "annotation".
So, you can set the label set to label it, and also create the lagend to display the theme.
I will record the Video to Eric,

Hi Debs
There is an alternative option for creating annotation; I tried it works!
Step 1 - Import shapefile by using mapimport

Step 2 - Select the Data and Point column
Step 3 - Anno will be displayed
Re: All anno will not be affected after processing topologies query.
Or Could you tell us in detail how you did the annotation and topologies query?
Cheers,
Eric

Hi Debs,
I have tried from my workstation which is installed Map3D2010. There isn't any zoom level problem, it keeps the scale of the workspace.
Which version are you using now?

Eric
