BIM & CIVIL
There have a new web page which was emphasize the global BIM news. From the flash banner, you can find four categories - Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing, Civil & Structural Engineering and Design Visualization. Actually the beside of change management, BIM can added the value for increasing interoperability, then All parties can smoothly work together. It had attached a white paper called BIM and Civil Engineering. Actually I saw it for few months ago. Inside the paper, it was discussed how Revit and Civil 3D file can be communicated with each other. Design data is exchanged between Revit and Civil 3D by using DWG files. Revit can export the preliminarily design to Civil 3D, and then the Civil Engineer do well know the design impact and then design / retuning the flyover design. For the Architect they can know very clearly the environment how the artificial slope affects their design. Also the industry standard software 3D Studio Max can help to visualize the final design and present to the customer. Eventually the model can be helped for facility management and store to GIS database.
