Data Linking

AutoCAD 2008 can provide the capability for connecting Excel table to AutoCAD which isn't a new function. Now AutoCAD 2008, you also can update the linked table inside AutoCAD and update it to the Excel spreadsheet. BTW, the FAQ is submitted by User. Let's take a look.

The command can be found in the Dashboard in the Table control panel.

OK After you created the link, now we go to try how update the table to Excel table.

For example the Excel table was updated and exit. In AutoCAD the message shows the data link has changed. So you can click the hyper link to update the table.

Before you want to change the data in the table, it need to unlock the cell by right-click the cell and select unlocked.

When you updated all the data, right-click the table and select "Write Data Links to External Source" of the menu. It will update the excel table.

Data join

Hi CL,

Yes it can do this, If you are using AutoCAD Map 3D and have a unique id for these objects. I have tried it. The general procedure is as below:

- Classify all CAD data to object data
- Create new Microsoft Access .mdb
- Import these Excel file to .mdb
- Create ODBC data connection
- Do data join

I'll create a Video in Minutes later for introducing this procedure.

Regards,
Eric
