Create the thematic map by Civil 3D
I have mentioned that we have always to work with cross-departmental.... At this time I will try to import the shapeformat(.shp) and create the thematic map by the Autodesk Civil 3D:
Step 1
Switch to the Map 3D Geospatial workspace
Step 2
Type command "mapwspace" to open the Display Manager

Step 3
Click the Data button

Step 4
Click Coordinate System and select the proper coordinate system

Step 5
File imported, highlight the imported layer and click Grid button; The DATA GRID window will be prompt and show the geospatial data database.

Step 6
Click Display, the Style Editor will be prompt and define the configuration

Step 7
Click Theme button; Theme editor prompted, the "Create a range of Conditions" section and "Interpolate Styles across the range of conditions" section need to input the setting.

Step 8
The thematic map is created based on the geospatial data database.

The Autodesk Civil 3D can directly open the geospatial data; this is a very good tool for referencing the different kinds of data onto the preliminary design and quick a look the visual impact. In case, if the project is working with DSD, they are always providing the file format normally is shapeformat (.shp) with the geospatial database. Then the Civil 3D can be underlayed the existing drainage system onto the proposed design and create the thematic. After that it can be easy to checked the conflict between them. Also this allows engineers and clients to make more accurate decisions, without the costly overhead of more traditional data collection techniques.
Later on I will try to study how Map 3D can provide the benefit onto the Civil 3D.
