BIM Model and MapGuide integration
Generally speaking, Revit/ BIM model is the object-based which have attached many informative attribute of the model; every component have their own property, behavior. It able to provide more sophisticated analysis e.g. Green analysis, Structural analysis, MEP model analysis... Ideally the building can be built more efficient. more info - http://revit.com.hk
Now Revit model with the information can be transfered to MapGuide and help to do the facility management, but it's limited to plan view. As the original BIM model is the 3D solid model, I would like to introduce the Autodesk freewheel & Design review and DWF file. Autodesk freewheel can help to display the DWF file via internet through the web browser. DWF is the file format for helping to do collaboration.
Needless speaking that the 3D Model can be easily presented the reality situation. Everyone like to see 3D model rather than 2D plan!
As below prototype show how the BIM model integrates to MapGuide and display on specific view:

The plan and the feature data(room polygon) is created by Revit.

The room information is generated by Revit.

The 3D model is generated by Autodesk Lab Freewheel viewer; the model can be navigated easily, but this viewer provides limited functionality.

As I'm using Vista operating system, IE7 and installed Autodesk Design Review 2010, this viewer is like full Design Review and provide high quality picture.

It shows the different between Freewheel and Design Review of Windows Vista. Especially the Design Review can provide more information about the BIM model. These information is created by Autodesk Revit. It is useful for some specific uses.
